More than four decades of determination and dedication have helped ophthalmic surgeons and vision specialists offer the products they need at affordable prices by integrating modern technology into their production processes.

The Group has played a significant role in bringing Indian ophthalmic surgeons at par with developed countries, especially in terms of Cataract Surgery Rate (CSR). This success is a result of sincere dedication and meticulous work.

Appasamy Group’s R&D teams continue their work in a wide range of areas. They work day and night to develop creative, cutting-edge and innovative ophthalmic products. By directing approximately 20% of its sales turnover to R&D, the Group provides significant support to the creation of new products as well as to the development of existing products.

The manufacturing facilities are located in Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Pondicherry, Kolkata (West Bengal) and Baddi (Himachal Pradesh) and are certified in accordance with EN ISO 13485 standards. They have also received CE approval from the notified bodies of the European Union. The products are transposed into the national laws of the member states in accordance with the requirements of council directive MDD 93/42/EEC, directive 2007/47/EC and MDR 2007/245.

The product range is approved with the CE marking by the relevant notified bodies, mostly for sale in the EU. Some products are registered and listed with the US FDA, and some are offered for sale in the US with 510(K) approval. In this way, the company has gained a reliable position in the sector by ensuring the production and distribution of products that comply with international standards.
